The La Frette Family

Olivier Bloch Lainé

‘Since its creation in 1980, this place has evolved like a tree: so many artists have brought little grafts that became, like new branches, new options and ways of approaching music.

Today, this house is like a tuned and harmonized instrument, by expert attentions, with the respectable patina of a well-played guitar.

It’s my house, but it wouldn’t be what it is without the contributions and enchantments of all the fairies and magicians, who have visited, respected, loved and animated our studio.

So it’s mostly their house.

And these pages, should also be theirs:

See the pages “MOMENTS & FACES”
“MOMENTS” are about events, sessions that we induced or shared,
“FACES” are about people who have come here and brought new ways to be inspired and to create.

In advance I would like to thank all of us for all future projects that La Frette will host.’

“I met Olivier in January 2009 and 2 months later I started my first session at La Frette Studios.

I’ve loved this place from the start, although I have worked in other beautiful studios before, but this house has given me great new opportunities in technical (I love the vintage material and the large rooms) and human terms.

This ‘home’ spirit is essential for me, it pushes us to exchange; I think that this is how music starts. Wanting to share things with people who create but also with the ones who listen.

I had the chance to work on quite a few sessions as assistant and met incredible artists, producers and engineers. I have grown thanks to these encounters. They allowed me to develop my own approach based on live recordings and exchange with artists for whom I produce, record and mix for my biggest pleasure.”

Some artists I worked with : Timber Timbre “Sincerely, Future, Pollution” (recording), Ebbène (production, mixing, recording), Saule & Charlie Winston “Géant” (mixing, recording), Medi “One is not enough” (production, mixing, recording), Paperface “Out of Time” (production, mixing, recording), Paon “Paon” (production, mixing, recording), Nick Cave “Skeleton Tree” (recording), David Zincke “Oh My” (production, mixing, recording), Noa Moon “Azurite” (production, mixing, recording), Justice “Ich R U” (mixing), and many others….

‘I’ve had the chance to work at La Frette Studios and its castle since 1993. I had the opportunity to make several stimulating encounters and discover new horizons in a unique environment, as its creator Olivier Bloch-Lainé.

In this place conducive to creativity, I am a privileged witness of the composition of some of the nicest moments of French and International music.

Thanks everyone.’

“La Frette studio is home to me. I joined the team in 2012, and have been in charge of quite a few sessions, from hosting the artists to wiring up the equipment altogether in order to obtain the perfect desired sounds for the project.

With our help, amazing singers and musicians have come and produced great-sounding records using the wonderful analogue Neve console and its great outboard equipment, and the stunning instruments.

Although the technical equipment is genuinely unique and astonishingly good, what drives me the most is the natural and calm environment in which we need to make people’s dream (their music) come true.

When artists are around, they find inspiration, they get along with the team and it is that mix of social experience and music production that makes La Frette Studio the most comfortable place to be productive and effective in producing your music.

See you soon!

“I started working at la Frette in 2011, as a trainee. I went to the EMC school and had the opportunity to discover several places linked to music. But La Frette made such an impression on me, due to its context and philosophy.

Linking a comfortable and welcoming environment to meticulous technical choices, Olivier created a studio giving no limit to creativity and where the artistic side of everyone is stimulated.

Every room has its own acoustic sound, every instrument or equipment is unique and contributes to the vintage and authentic sound.

It’s a pleasure to come at La Frette, where I work as a freelance assistant sound engineer since 2013.”

‘I arrived in La Frette beginning of 2016, just after my studies. I was immediately attracted by the spirit of this place, the people, the gear….

Participating to the creation of albums in this environment is a fascinating experience. La Frette is a place full of surprises and rarities, where each object is filled with history.

The vintage approach of the sound and the famous Neve Console, makes it a unique studio to record and produce music.’

‘Before joining La Frette in 2006, I was a technical director in Studio Plus XXX and Studio de la Seine.

Now, at la Frette Studios, I mainly take care of the Neve console, when ever its needed, for my biggest pleasure. I admire the rarity and the quality of this console and the beauty of this place.’

‘As soon as I arrived at La Frette, I was stunned by this beautiful manor, the instruments and gear everywhere around the house.

Due to this charming environment and the very welcoming team, you straight away feel like home.

Working on the communication of this studio, filled with history and great talents is a pleasure every day.’

Recently I discovered a magical place, in the middle of the nature, where I met an extraordinary team, creating an idyllic environment

It’s a unique site where artists and musical creation mingle.

Participating to the development of the digital communication of this studio is for me an amazing experience.

It’s more than just a location; it’s a source of inspiration.

Luna

Luna is our mascot. She listened to so many artists, seen so many talents and played with so many musicians that we can officially say that she is the spirit of this place.
